This melt-in-the-mouth dessert is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a wholesome, falahari (fruit-based) delicacy often prepared during vrat or fasting days. The sweetness of apples blended with ghee and cardamom gives it a rich, traditional Indian touch — perfect to end any meal on a delightful note. 🍏✨

Apple Halwa Recipe

Apple Halwa is one such dish that fills your kitchen with warmth and festive joy. There’s something magical about the aroma of slow-cooked apples melting in ghee, their natural sweetness blending with cardamom and milk. Light, aromatic, and utterly comforting — it’s a wonderful way to enjoy apples in a traditional Indian style.

Let’s prepare this delicious, simple and healthy Apple Halwa that melts in your mouth and uplifts your mood instantly. 🍎✨

📝 Ingredients

🍎 Apples – 3–4 large

Apples

🥛 Full Cream Milk – 1 cup (125 ml)
🧈 Ghee – 1½ to 2 Tbsp
🍬 Sugar – 100 grams or as per taste
🌰 Almonds – 8–10, thinly sliced
🥥 Pistachios – 8–10, sliced
🍇 Raisins – 14–16
🥥 Desiccated Coconut Powder – 1 Tbsp (for garnish)
🌿 Cinnamon Powder – a pinch
🌼 Green Cardamom Powder – ¼ tsp

👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apples
Wash apples thoroughly. Peel and cut them into small cubes (you can also grate them if preferred).

Step 2: Cook the Apples
Heat ghee in a nonstick pan or kadhai. Add the apple pieces and cook on medium flame until they turn soft and the moisture evaporates —  It will take around 8-10 minutes.

Step 3: Mash and Saute
Mash the softened apples gently using a spatula or masher. Sauté for another 2–3 minutes until the mixture looks glossy.

Step 4: Add Milk
Pour hot milk into the pan and stir continuously. Cook until the mixture thickens to attain halwa-like consistency.

Step 5: Sweeten the Halwa
Add sugar, cinnamon powder and cardamom powder. The halwa will loosen slightly as the sugar melts — keep stirring until it reaches your desired thickness.

Step 6: Garnish & Serve
  • Add almonds, pistachios and raisins. Mix well and remove from flame.
  • Garnish with desiccated coconut powder for a festive touch.
Warm, aromatic Apple Halwa is now ready to serve — enjoy it warm or chilled. It tastes divine both ways!
